Frequently Asked Questions

Can I ride with no experience?

Absolutely! Whether you are a first time rider or have years of experience, our staff is dedicated to ensuring that you feel safe, comfortable, and confident throughout your ride. Before setting out, we provide a short, easy to follow lesson for the entire group, covering the basics of mounting, steering, stopping, and communicating with your horse. When its time to get on, our guides will reiterate these instructions, assist you personally, and answer any questions you may have.

If at any point a rider feels unsure or nervous, we may “pony” their horse, meaning one of our experienced guides will lead the horse by a lead line until the rider feels more confident and ready to ride independently. Our goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where every participant can enjoy the experience safely, regardless of their skill level.

What should we wear for the horseback ride?

For your safety and the well being of our horses, we ask that all riders come appropriately dressed. Closed-toe, securely strapped shoes, preferably with a low heel to ensure proper footing in the stirrups and to prevent injuries. We also recommend wearing jeans or other long pants to protect your legs from rubbing against the saddle. A long sleeved shirt is advised to help shield against insects and sun exposure. Hats are allowed only if tied under the chin, to ensure your safety. Appropriate attire not only keeps riders comfortable and safe but also helps maintain calm, confident horses throughout the ride.

Do you provide helmets?

Yes, we provide riding helmets for all guests. While helmets are required by law for riders under the age of 18, we srongly encourage every participant regardless of age to wear one for their own safety. Helmets are specifically designed to protect against head injureins in the unlikely event of a fall, and they are carefully sanitized and fitted to ensure comfort and security. Our priority is to create a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone and wearing a helmet is a simple yet important part of responsible horsemanship.

Are tips included, and is it customary to tip the staff?

Gratuities are never expected but always sincerely appreciated. Our guides, and staff work hard to ensure your safety, comfort, and enjoyment throughout your ride, and tips are an important part of their overall compensation. If you feel that your experience was exceptional, offering a gratuity is a thoughtful way to show your appreciation for their professionalism, care, and hospitality. Thank you for supporting our team and recognizing their dedication to making your ride memorable.

Can I bring my cell phone on the horseback ride?

For the safety of both our riders and our horses, we DO NOT permit cell phones to be brought on the ride. Sudden noises, vibrations, or the act of handling a phone can easily distract the rider or startle the horse, potentially creating an unsafe situation. Our priority is ensuring that every participant remain focused, balanced and fully present throughout the experience. We kindly ask that you leave your phone in your vehicle or at the front desk, so you can enjoy the moment safely and without distraction.

What happens if it rains, does my ride get cancelled or refunded?

Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable riding experience for all guests. In the event of rain or unfavorable weather, our staff carefully evaluates the conditions to determine whether it is safe and comfortable to proceed. If we decide that the weather is not suitable for riding, we will contact you directly to cancel your reservation and issue a full refund or if you would like reschedule your ride.

Please note that depending on your bank or credit card provider, refunds may take several days to appear on your account. We appreciate your patience during this process and we encourage you to reach out to us if you do not see the refund within a week. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we will always communicate promptly regarding any weather related changes to your ride.

Do you have weight restrictions?

Yes, for the safety and well being of both our guests and our horses, we do have weight guidelines in place. Our maximum rider weight is 270 pounds, and we also follow a height to weight (BMI) chart to ensure that each horse is paired appropriately for balance, comfort, and safety.

These guidelines are not only part of our commitment to responsible animal care but are also required by our insurance policy. Guests who fall within the red zone on the BMI chart, indicating a weight to height ratio beyond our safety parameters, unfortunately cannot be accomodated for riding.

We understand this policy may be disappointing for some guests, but it is designed with the utmost respect for the horses physical limits and to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
